21 Mayomg…i just saw the funniest thing on tv. this time, it’s NOT the japanese!! it’s the TAIWANESE! CRAZY!! i think i need to make a trip back to asia again…i need to see this in person! basically this restaurant, you sit on toilets, your food gets served in toilet bowls (table size), your desserts in urinals and so on. it’s nuts! Fun..but TRÈS WEIRD!

13 AprI normally go for a walk in my lunch with my colleagues, just to get away from the desk for a while and stretch our legs. Our route normally takes us across Tower Bridge, past City Hall and across London Bridge again. Today, on our walk, nothing out of the ordinary really happens as we walk away from the office. We have a moan about work, about the weather, briefly talk about what to get for lunch, and talk about the randomest things. We get to Tower Bridge, and as always there are many tourists taking pictures along the bridge, with the tower in the background, posing in the middles of the path, people working on the bridge fixing the netting, nothing really out of the ordinary. As we get to the second tower, the one closer to the City Hall, I notice someone who is on the other side of the railing, holding onto it with one hand. As we pass him, I realise that he isn’t wearing harness of any sort, and I said to my colleague, what’s he doing? He has his earphones in, so he must be listening to music or something, he keeps looking down into the water, and the river already has a low tide, and I notice he is breathing deeply and exhaling long breaths. I say to my colleague, I think he’s going to jump. All the while, people pass him, look at him, look down at the river by where he’s standing, and nobody goes to speak to him. I ask my colleague, what’s the number, is it 999? I dial the number, and it doesn’t even ring, goes straight to someone, who then asks me what service I need. I don’t know, I reply, there is someone on the bridge who I think is going to jump! And she asks me again, what service do you need? I say, I don’t know! Ambulance! She puts me through to the ambulance, and I speak to this really nice man, who at the same as trying to get as much information out of me and is trying to calm me. I keep telling him, he better send someone quick, the man is looking down again, and up to the sky, and shifting his weight on his legs. At one point, I say, I think he’s going to jump, and the man who wanted to jump, looks right at me. I’m not sure if he heard me or not, or if it was coincidence, but it sent shivers down my spine. I must have been a good five meters away from him. I didn’t want to get too close, just in case he lashes out or whatever, but I didn’t want to be too far away for when the ambulance comes and doesn’t see me or him. The man on the phone asks me if i want to speak to him to ask him if he’s ok, and I said no. He then asks me if he has a weapon, and I look, kinda leant over the railing and said no. The man said, just be aware he could get aggressive if you talk to him. In my head, I’m thinking, I don’t want to talk to him. Just in case he gets all aggressive, and tells me to fuck off and then he jumps. I didn’t want that…
I get off the phone, and within three or four minutes, we see a helicopter circling the bridge. The next few minutes seem like forever, and I start crying. I don’t know why! I don’t even know this guy! It was just too much for me, I guess. I see the ambulance coming from Tower Hill, and I also see that someone else is running up to the medic to get him to come to this guy. When the medics arrive to the guy who is thinking of jumping, my colleague and I leave. By this time, I was in tears. I didn’t want to see if the guy decides to jump even after the medics got to him, so we walk away. We get to side where City Hall is and I look up to where he was standing, and I see that he is gone. The water police were driving away from the bridge as well, so it looked like, they were able to convince the guy to come over the railing again. I was relieved, and at the same time I was still in shock of just happened. We came back to the office, and I asked to go home. I needed a drink! BIG TIME!
